Daylight Zones: Toplighted Spacesdaylight harvesting

When designing an energy-saving daylight harvesting control system, a critical decision is to establish lighting control zones, identifying lighting loads to be separately controlled. Before this decision can be made, however, we must first determine the daylight zones. A daylight zone is defined by the ASHRAE/IES 90.1-2010 energy standard as “the floor area substantially illuminated by daylight.”

In this special report by the Lighting Controls Association, we will examine methods of establishing daylight zones in toplighted spaces.
