Department of Energy Names ASHRAE/IES 90.1-2010 as New National Energy Standard
On October 19, 2011, DOE recognized the 2010 version of ASHRAE/IES 90.1 as the new national energy standard. By October 18, 2013, all states in the United States must put in place a commercial building energy code at least as stringent as the ASHRAE/IES 90.1-2010 energy standard, or justify why they cannot comply.
In this special report by the Lighting Controls Association, we summarize the DOE ruling, what it means for commercial building energy codes in the near future, and major administrative and lighting control changes in the standard compared to previous versions.
