Industry Veteran Mike Connell Retires
Genlyte Controls holds retirement celebration
On June 30, 2007, Mike Connell stepped down from his Regional Sales Manager position with Genlyte Controls in order to enter into a relaxing life of retirement. To celebrate Connell’s 39 years of dedicated lighting industry service, Genlyte Controls held a retirement celebration at the Channel 4 Irish Bar and Restaurant in New York City on July 16, 2007, which was attended by over 30 close friends and colleagues.
“We are very sad to see Mike go,” stated Julie Smith, Genlyte Controls General Manager. “You simply can’t replace the knowledge and reputation that he possesses and we feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work along side him.”
Connell began his career with Kliegl Bros. in 1968 where he worked his way up from inside sales to Director of Sales. In the late 1980’s, Connell and Larry Kellerman represented Strand Lighting, and he later worked as a consultant for Teatronics, Inc. In 1997, Connell joined Entertainment Technology as Vice President of Sales, and after Entertainment Technology was purchased by Rosco Labs, and subsequently sold to the Genlyte Group, Connell joined Genlyte Controls.
With the departure of Connell, Genlyte Controls Regional Sales Manager Matthew Burstein has begun overseeing the complete New York Metro region. Burstein may be reached at mburstein@genlytecontrols.com.
