Lutron Electronics Announces Three Updates to Its Sivoia QED™ Shading System Product Line
Coopersburg,
PA - Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. has introduced three new line extensions to its popular Sivoia QED (Quiet Electronic Drive) product line, a sophisticated and versatile window treatment system that allows homeowners complete control of natural light.
The Sivoia QED Roller 225 System
Lutron has more than doubled the capacity of its Sivoia QED window shading system with the new Sivoia QED Roller 225, which offers smooth, precise, ultra-quiet control of large shades (up to 15 feet by 15 feet, or 225 square feet). The larger shade capacity provides full coverage for homeowners and commercial building owners with extra-wide or long windows, especially popular in newly constructed homes and in many commercial applications, such as restaurants, lobbies, and high-rise buildings.
Another new benefit of the Sivoia QED system is a patent-pending speed control enhancement, which allows Roller 100 and Roller 225 shade systems to move and track together, even though they use different size roller tubes. Prior to this development, architects, designers, and end-users with multiple window sizes in a single space had to sacrifice aesthetics (with shade hembars constantly out of alignment) or greatly increase system cost (by changing all shades in a space to the larger, more expensive, roller tubes).
In-Line Coupled Shades
The second of Lutron’s new Sivoia QED line extensions is an in-line coupled system. In-line coupled shades can reduce the price of a Sivoia QED system, because up to three adjacent shade panels can be tied together and driven by a single EDU (Electronic Drive Unit). An average in-line coupled system could cost 20-30 percent less than using individual shades.
In addition to saving money, the in-line coupled system saves time for the installer. The innovative design of the bracket allows coupled shade panels to be adjusted after they have been installed, ensuring a quick, clean installation with perfectly aligned hembars.
Dual-Mount Shades
The final product update to the Sivoia QED line is a dual-mount shade system. Dual-mounted roller shades add versatility to any space by allowing two different styles of fabrics to be used on the same window (one in front of the other). A common customer request is to have a sun-filtering solar fabric for daytime use, plus a privacy or blackout fabric for nighttime use. The new dual-mount shade system makes it easy to address this application, with a specially-designed bracket system that simplifies the installation. The dual-mount shade system also provides the utmost in flexibility for multi-use rooms, such as media rooms, home theaters, and board rooms.
“The Sivoia QED family of products has been extremely well-received by architects, designers, installers, and end users because of its precise operation, sophisticated controls, and – of course – its nearly silent operation. These new additions will allow us to bring the incredible benefits of Sivoia QED to many new applications,” said Lisa Hobart, Marketing Manager, Lutron Shading Solutions.
More about Sivoia QED
Sivoia QED provides the ultimate in window treatment elegance and convenience. It features a near-silent electronic drive (44 dBA at three feet), minimal light gaps around the shade, simple installation, and a flexible design that can work in virtually any installation.
Sivoia QED makes any space more flexible, helps save energy in both hot and cold weather, and is an elegant addition to any living room, bedroom, bath or home theater. During sunny hours, shades can be lowered to reduce heat and protect carpeting, wood floors, artwork, and furnishings from harsh ultra-violet rays. During evening hours, covering windows ensures privacy and security.
Sivoia QED was designed with flexibility in mind. Its electronic drive and internal components are located inside the roller tube, allowing it to fit within a 5” x 5” pocket. This innovative design allows for three installation possibilities: inside jamb mount, outside wall mount and ceiling mount.
Sivoia QED offers a 3/4” light gap between the roller shade and its window frame, allowing minimal light to seep through the opening. In addition, the product utilizes low-voltage wiring, allowing for easy retrofits. Proprietary brackets allow roller tubes to be readily adjusted and easily aligned without removing fabric from the tube.
Lutron offers more than 100 styles of roller and Roman shade fabrics, as well as the option of using customer-provided fabric.
