Lighting Controls Association Offers New Online Course on Time Sweep Controls
The Lighting Controls Association (LCA) has updated EE102: Switching Controls to include a new and improved section on load scheduling controls as part of its popular Education Express program.
Residing at the Association’s website, www.aboutlightingcontrols.org, Education Express provides in-depth education about lighting controls and controllable ballast technology, application, system design and commissioning, as well as meta-issues such as LEED, energy codes and other trends.
Automatic shutoff is required by most commercial energy codes, and load scheduling—also called time sweep control—is a popular compliance method. EE102: Switching Controls, Section 2, authored by lighting industry educator and journalist Craig DiLouie, describes load scheduling strategies, technology and the basics of designing a load scheduling control system.
At the conclusion of the course, an optional online comprehension test is available, with automatic grading; a passing grade enables the student to claim education credit. EE102: Switching Controls, Section 2: Load Scheduling Control is accredited/registered with the National Council on Quality in the Lighting Professions (NCQLP), which recognizes 4.5 LEUs towards maintenance of Lighting Certified (LC) certification; the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), which recognizes 0.45 CEUs towards maintenance of its Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional (CLEP) certification; and the interNational Association of Lighting Management Companies (NALMCO), which recognizes 30 Education Points towards maintenance of its Certified Lighting Management Consultant (CLMC) certification.
Since its launch in June 2006, Education Express has served more than 5,200 students, who have benefited from more than 20,000 completions of learning modules and some 7,500 comprehension tests taken online, enabling them to earn education credit.
